Posting for Minister to Children Position

The position of Minister to Children at First Baptist Church Chappell Hill is a salaried, part- time position reporting to Senior Pastor and to the deacon body as representatives of the church.  The Minister to Children provides spiritual oversight and leadership direction for the church’s ministry to children from birth through 6th grade, including both nursery staff and the children’s education team.   He/she is to ensure effective ministry to children and their families, and is to be a champion of the church’s vision and mission, equipping the saints for service..


Our church has been ministering to the exurban Chappell Hill community in Central Texas for more than 30 years, emphasizing ministry to families with thriving children’s and youth ministries, multiple adult Sunday Bible study classes, and worship service attendance of about 150.  We are debt-free and moved just four years ago into a brand-new facility overlooking Highway US 290 just east of Brenham.  Other staff members are the senior pastor, worship minister, youth minister, and part time administrative staff.


The ideal candidate will:


  • Have several years of ministry experience working with children, as well as demonstrated team-building skills in working with teachers and parents.  
  • The candidate must have an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. 
  • Will share our church’s Baptist beliefs and values. 
  • Will have a heart for children. 
  • Will work effectively with church staff, volunteer leaders, and family members.  


We expect to offer a half-time salary of $16,000 to $20,000 annually, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. As for all our children’s workers, applicants will be expected to consent to a criminal background check.
