Sunday Morning Bible Study

About Sunday Bible Study

Meet Every Sunday from 9:45 - 10:45

At First Baptist Church Chappell Hill, we're very passionate about the idea of growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. So we believe it's good for brothers and sisters in Christ to sit down and look deeply into the Word of God for direction, for wisdom, and for training in Christ's righteousness. Below you'll see several options for Sunday School classes to try. It's our prayer that the Lord will stir a desire in your heart to want to join in with us on the journey of knowing Christ and making Him known. Some classes below are either age or gender specific but, for the most part, classes are open to anyone.

Children's

Open for Children from birth through 6th Grade

Our Sonshine Kids ministry takes the responsibility of partnering with parents to teach and care for your child seriously.  Our children’s ministry is designed to increase your child’s knowledge and understanding of God’s love.  Your child will be taught about the love of Jesus through Bible stories, songs, prayer, and Bible-learning activities.

Youth

Junior & High School Students - Meet in Youth Room

Currently, high school and middle school is in the same class.  We have been studying old testament covenants and now making our way to the Promise land and establishment of Israel.

Applications Class

Open for All - Meet in Conference Room

In considering applications of scripture for daily living, we seek to show how each subject points us to the glory of God manifest in Christ Jesus. Devotions and topical studies in Scripture are presented by Lou Ware, Ted Clee, and others in the class. Ted facilitates the scheduling and logistics. All adults are welcome!

Class 27:17

Open for All - Meet in the Parlor

Class 27:17 is currently undertaking an in-depth study of the inter-testament period (Micah to Matthew).  Special focus is on related prophecies (esp. Daniel and Ezekiel), major historical events of the period, their impact on the Jewish nation and religion, and the subsequent relevance for us today.

Encouragers

For Ladies - Meet in Brides Room

The focus at this time is The Patriarch by Beth Moore which is a study of the book of Genesis.  We share a Beth Moore  video and discuss weekly lessons from an accompanying  workbook as we make our way through the book of Genesis.

Explorers

Open for All - Meet in the Fellowship Hall

The Explorers class is spending the next few weeks finalizing the character of God study considering the challenges of being God's priests as expressed in the lives of Jonah, Balaam (a prophet, but not a servant) and figures such as John Whycliff, William Tyndale, and Martin Luther.  Then we will begin a study of Heaven.  What does Scripture really say about heaven?  What are misconceptions of heaven and why are there such misconceptions?

Just for Men

For Men - Meets in the Men's Classroom
