What to Expect

What should I wear?

The last thing we want you to worry about is what to wear! This is a relaxed atmosphere with a little bit of everything. Some men will wear sports jackets and some ladies will wear dresses, but you'll see just as many people wearing jeans and a casual shirt. Some kids are dressed up; some kids many have slept in the same clothes last night. Know that no matter how you come, the important thing is you are here. That's what we care about.

What time does everything start?

On Sunday mornings, we start Bible study classes at 9:45 throughout the building.  Our worship service starts at 11:00 am and is generally over at noon.our worship service begins at 11:00 and generally ends at noon. our worship service begins at 1

On Wednesday nights we start serving a family meal at 5:30 p.m. during the school year, and our Bible study classes and other Wednesday night activities begin at 6:30.

What does a service look like here?

In a typical worship service here you'll see three main things: singing, prayer, and preaching. We play a blended worship set combining traditional songs with contemporary worship music. Our prayer time allows us to focus on coming before the Lord with our heart concerns. Our preaching is typically expository. We walk through different books of the Bible, and it has life application (we want you to leave a service knowing how you can apply Scripture to your life that day and throughout the week).

Who all is in a service?

We have a strong conviction that a church service should be multi-generational. We do offer nursery care during the service, but in a service, you may see babies all the way up to senior adults, and everyone in between. We believe the church is better when we all worship together. We do not use a Children's Church model where our children are in a different service while the adults worship. You may hear a baby crying, but don't worry! - they're just trying to praise the Lord!

What about during Sunday Bible Study?

In Sunday Bible study we do divide up for some classes into age specific groups. Our children will all have a class that is approporiate for their age. We also use Planning Center Check-In as a security measure to keep our children safe. When you bring your child to Sunday Bible Study, you will recieve two stickers: one for your child to wear that has their name and a specific, randomly generated code, and you'll also receive a corresponding sticker for you to hold on to that has the matching code on it. Please hold on to the sticker during the Sunday Bible Study hour as this will be how we check your child out of our care.  Our youth also have an age-appropriate class, and our adults have several class options from which to choose.

Do I need to do anything?

During the service there will be a time when we prompt you to fill out a Communication Card if you are a first time guest. Filling this out does not mean we will randomly show up at your house uninvited. We can schedule a visit or phone call if you would like. This card is simply a way for us to know you visited today. You can turn this slip into the offering box at the back of the sanctuary after the service, or if you prefer, you can turn this card into our Welcome Center in the Foyer.  However you return the card, please do stop by the Welcome Center after the service for a free gift from us as a "thank you" for your visit.

OUR MINISTRIES

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

Our Women's Ministry seeks to fulfill Christ's mission by encouraging women with a sense of belonging to God and to each other, enabling each of us to become all we are to be in Christ. Equipping ladies to bless others with the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ.

HOME GROUPS

Home Groups are a great opportunity to meet up outside the normal hours of church. It allows members and visitors to not feel the pressure of the structure of a Sunday morning schedule. We have several groups that meet at different locations and times during the weekends. Click here to find out more and see where you can get involved!

EXPERIENCE FBC CHAPPELL HILL

HERE, WE GROW

Our purposes at First Baptist Church of Chappell Hill are first to glorify God, then to disciple the believers, reach out and witness to the community, and support home and foreign missions. Our core activities in support of these purposes are worship and prayer, study and fellowship, service to the community, and giving to missions. We wish to be seen as a Bible-based family of believers that actively reaches out to the community, helping people and inviting them to participate in a vibrant ministry for Christ.

OUR VISION

SHARE WHERE WE ARE

We exist to build healthy relationships in the community God has placed each of us in. We believe God has placed us where and when we are for a purpose and mission to make His name known. We want to make the name of Jesus known in our families, our community, and our nation.

We exist to serve others and to be a part of a community of believers. We desperately want to be a united body in Christ. As Paul calls to in 1 Corinthians work in harmony as the human body does, so shall we. We desire to love one another and encourage and build up one another.

GROW CLOSER TO GOD

We exist to serve and grow closer to God. This is our soul purpose here at First Baptist Church Chappell Hill. It is our hope and mission that through our services and ministries that you are given the tools to build a better relationship with Christ. To grow in our grace and our knowledge.
